Amira's Success Story

At the age of 30 I woke up one day and my size 14 jeans were feeling really tight. I 'dared' to weigh myself and was horrified to find I weighed 12 stone 7! I knew then I had to do something once and for all. I was not going to be fat and 30!

I discovered the 30 minute activity challenge through a girlfriend of mine who was a member of Everyone Active and thought, "I’ve got nothing to lose, I will give it a go!" After that I never looked back and have been an Everyone Active member ever since.

The biggest challenge for me was getting started as I hadn’t done any exercise for years.  The 28 day activity planner was essential for me to plan my week’s activities and stay on track.  I met with one of the Fitness Motivators at the club who pointed me in the right direction and explained about the results cards and how they worked.  By the end of the first week I was delighted to see I had completed my 5 x 30mins for that week and lost 3lb.  I found the nutritional tips and advice given on line also helped me to eat sensibly rather than trying to starve myself. As I lost weight I found I loved to be active and started doing something every day.

Tips for losing weight

  1. Stick to your planner. You will only be fooling yourself if you don't. You will probably also find if you do a bit more exercise/cut down other days it won't be as bad as you think if you have had a bad day.
  2. Don't beat yourself up over a bad day. Being too hard on yourself will only put you on a downward spiral into doing the same thing the next day. Forget it and move on!
  3. Ensure you STAY active after the 28days. You don't have to be a fitness freak (like me now!) just walking will help. The more you can eat sensibly the less likely you are to feel you are dieting.
  4. Last but not least BE PATIENT!! As you get near to your target, your weight loss will slow. It took me months to lose my last 6lb but with determination, support from Fitness Motivators and a lot of tears and tantrums I did get there. It is hard - I know it is but stick with it and you will get the results you want! If I can do it anyone can!
